The Best Neighborhood To Live In If You Don’t Want Your Brain To Age

Preventing your mind from aging has many advantages. With a youthful mind, you can handle different tasks that require you to use your brain without assistance. Besides, it can help you reduce stress and adverse side effects. So, you should seek professional help on how to keep your brain youthful as you age. Among the most effective ways is to live in a peaceful neighborhood. Compared to the other strategies, where you live keeps your brain in top shape for longer.

The research about the best neighborhood

As a way to determine the best strategy to keep your brain youthful, researchers researched several people. In their research, they studied neighborhoods and areas that have numerous visiting sites. And, the research showed that adults who lived in such communities ranked better on cognition tests. That information was vital because it showed that you could not rewind your age, but you can move to a suitable neighborhood to improve your health.

The research showed that living in a neighborhood with plenty of sites could help keep your mind fresh as you grow older. That’s because as you visit the different places, you enjoy the beauty of the other neighborhoods, you get a chance to socialize with people from different backgrounds, and you have an opportunity to exercise as you walk. However, when visiting areas you are not familiar with, one of your workers or family members should accompany you. That’s because you can get confused by different constructions, and you might forget your way back home.

How to choose the best walkable neighborhood

For your brain to benefit fully, you have to choose the best walkable neighborhood. So, you should ensure that the particular one you choose has the following:

Public space and city parks

The neighborhood you choose should have a public space with benches and gathering space. That will enable you to relax and meet different people at different times of the day.

Urban density

Your choice of the walkable neighborhood should also have the right urban density. That will help you to feel safe should you decide to walk alone, even in secluded areas.

Focused street network

A focused street network is a sign of a walkable neighborhood. With the network of streets intersecting each other, you will be able to move across different streets at ease. Besides, you will feel safer walking in open streets than walking behind buildings where you might feel insecure.

An assembly center

A walkable neighborhood should also have an assembly center where you can access all the essential services. You don’t have to travel for hours to access essential services or the things you love. With a nearby assembly center with all the services you require, you will have an emotional tie with the neighborhood.

As you grow older, you have to look for ways to prevent your brain from growing old. And the best one is moving to a walkable neighborhood. While in the community, you will have different areas to visit and numerous residents you can talk to, to keep your mind young.
