How Your Cellphone Operator Is Fooling You

by Frances Garcia

No one enjoys paying bills, especially if they can’t account for them. To avoid paying extra charges, you need to know how your wireless provider might undercharge you.

You’re paying for unlimited data services that aren’t unlimited. Most cellular companies will boast of providing their customers with unlimited data. Gone are the days you could use your phones to navigate and explore the internet without any scams, restrictions, and limitations that are baseless. Unlimited data has changed over time. Consumers are usually trapped in the nonsensical branding that carriers invented to differentiate one data from another. In the long run, they were confused about whether the above unlimited or beyond unlimited is the premium plan.

When you think you can interpret the two, then your guesses end up to be wrong. When you finally enroll for unlimited data, the chances are that the server will slow you down and focus on other clients when there is network congestion, referred to as deprioritization. Most customers are victims as it is difficult for them to notice whether they are deprioritized. Many customers sued Verizon company for throttling them.

You’re paying for an unneeded WiFi hotspot

A customer needs to be aware whenever you’re paying for an unneeded WiFi hotspot. You may be in the dark and probably asking yourself how did you land there. Unneeded WiFi hotspot? Yes, it’s possible as it may be linked with adware and other unnecessary programs that you might have installed on your PC, smartphone, or laptop. You can easily get infected with such programs. To avoid this, be on the lookout whenever you install apps and computer programs. Check the license agreements and installation screens before downloading anything from Google or Applestore into our phone or PC.

You purchased the wrong data plan

You can keep your bill under control. Don’t get scammed when you sign for a cellphone plan only to discover that you are getting overcharged, claiming that you’ve used over 10GB in less than a month. The same people will call your residence and inform you that you need to pay extra bucks to stay connected.

It is vital to ensure you and your family are ever connected to WiFi even at home because you may find that WiFi is off and the data is on. Also, there is a possibility that both are on at the same time. What happens when you are exploring YouTube, Instagram, or watching movies from Netflix and websites? You will probably get what is coming, and that is the maximum consumption of data.

To avoid this, ensure you have a data meter to keep track of the apps that are likely to utilize a lot of your data. You can also turn on the notifications on your settings for you to get prompts whenever certain apps are going beyond the set data limit.
